It is with heavy heart that I write these words this evening.  Doug passed away at about 9:30pm tonight.  He was surrounded by his wife, children and their spouses, and his granddaughter.  Before he passed we enjoyed the incredible blessing of having him responsive for a time and we were able to share memories with him and read your emails and comments to him before he passed and I know that he felt of your love.  I feel so blessed to have had a few years with him and am amazed at how loved he made me feel in such a short time, and I know you all feel the same way about him.

Diane, Ryan and Ashley are being lifted up right now thanks to all of your prayers in their behalf.  They are sad and miss him so much, but they are at peace.  We all feel so excited for him and his reunion with his daughter, his parents and other loved ones.  And most of all, we know he was a great man and has been received into the bosom of his Savior.

As funeral arrangements are made I will post about those as well.

Good night for now, and God bless you all during this difficult time.

Kim (daughter-in-law)

  2. Love you guys ! I was blessed with working with Doug at Mervyn's UDC back in the 1980's! He was always a caring loving and ENERGETIC person. He ALWAYS had a great sense of humor as well. I remember how funny he was in the skits at Mervyn's! Everyone loves DOUG!
I am happy for him right now...but it's a sad time for all of us who will miss him so much!
    Praying for you!

  3. We just saw this posting on our nephew-in-law's facebook page and wondered if this could be the Doug Wilson we knew from our years in the summer pineapple-picking program. When we saw the picture we recognized him, oh how we enjoyed being around Doug. What a fun and funny guy, he badly wanted to beat Jeff at ping-pong and played many, many games betting cans of soda. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time, you can rest assured that we will always remember Doug with fondness.

  5. On behalf of Roger Andrus: Roger forwards his sympathies and heartfelt sorrow at the passing of a great man. Roger remembers meeting Doug at Mervyn's and how quick Doug picked up on the fact that Roger's wife dropped Roger off each day. Doug, the generous man that he is said, "Why don't I just pick you up"? so they started car-pooling. One day, Diane had the car and picked them both up after work. Roger sat in the back with little Ryan. After a few minutes Ryan piped up, "Dad, why do we have to give this guy a ride"? I'm sure that Ryan has picked up his dad's generosity too by now. Doug will be greatly missed.

  7. Diane and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I will really miss swapping stories with Doug and laughing until we wheezed. Doug is the kind of friend where we could pick up right where we left a conversation, even after months of non-contact. Indeed, I look forward to the day when we can do that again. I learned and received so much from Doug; I only wish I could repay him for giving of himself so. I know the Savior has welcomed him home and will provide you with His Balm of peace and love during this time. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  9. Diane and family, this is Kristy - Eric's former wife. I just heard of Doug's passing a few minutes ago and I had no idea he had even been ill. I just wanted to write and tell you that Doug touched my life in good ways in the years that I knew him. He was one of the nicest men I had ever met and he just exuded love. I was really, really sad to hear that he had passed. One nice thought is that he is holding precious Shelly in his arms. Please know I am thinking of you and your family and I am sending you lots and lots of love and comforting wishes. Love, Kristy

  10. Kim and other Wilson family members,

Thank you for keeping us all informed...Doug and I served in NZ became fast friends there. It was really great in the last few years to renew that friendship. As you know he was a special man who had the gift of making you feel important and loved. I will cherish my memories and the time I had to know Doug. During our last conversations he spoke of his family, his love for all of you and how blessed he was by the Lord for Diane being in his life. I look forward to the day that we will meet again on that great Celestial plane.

May the Lord comfort and bless you all,
    Doug Hansen,

  11. Dear Diane, I worked with Doug at the Mervyn's UDC back in the early 80s when we were all still just kids. I had the highest possible regard for him. I don't know if you remember, but you and Doug (and I think, the Clayson's) came to my house for dinner once & I came to your house as well). I was so sorry to hear about the ordeal you all went through, but feel certain that there is a glorious reunion in store for all of you in the eternities.

My life was blessed through my association with him and my prayers are with you now.

    With love,
    Adrienne Robinson
